Windows 7 auto logon group policy

The fact that it works after a reboot tells me I have the correct keys. It seems like GP processing has changed and no longer allows this to happen. To be clear, I use to be able to set autologon during the stage that processes the GP computer configuration and because it was happenging before logon, it would automatically logon when it got to that point.

With W7, the keys get set before the logon is displayed but it does not auto logon. If I reboot, the keys are already set and it works from that point on. The problem is not getting the keys set, it with when the settings take affect. The whole idea of group policy is to be able to effectively manage your systems even after they have been deployed. If I have PCs that are locked down and next week I need to have them autologon, changing them before I deploy them isnt realistic.

We ended up having to visit every PC and set local group policy to Autologon because it doesnt work through domin group policy without a reboot. We then have to visit every PC again to reverse the process when autologon is no longer needed.

I don't know what brand of thin clients you have but the "lock session" is possible through GPP Registry.
